It is set in a fictional hot spring resort where a hot spring was discovered during the Edo period (1603-1868). From the Taisho era through the early Showa era, domestic travel by rail and group tours gradually became more popular. Consequently, ryokan equipped with guest rooms and large banquet halls capable of accommodating many guests began to appear throughout the country. While some \"trendy\" ryokan were built incorporating Western architectural styles, this \"Hosen-ro\" deliberately unified its exterior design using traditional Japanese architectural styles.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nOn the grounds of \"Hosen-ro,\" various buildings serving different purposes-including the main building, guest accommodations, a large banquet hall, and a large public bath-stand as separate structures. They are connected by covered walkways, allowing guests to move around the premises without being affected by the weather, even on rainy or snowy days.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe fact that the building is divided into several wings is based on the assumption that it has undergone repeated expansions and renovations in line with the ryokan's growth since it opened. As a result, the interior features a coexistence of older architectural styles-which preserve the tradition of early modern inn architecture-and modern floor plans influenced by Western-style hotels.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nFrom traditional Japanese ryokan to modern tourist inns-this work was created with the vision of a ryokan architecture unique to the transitional period of the early Showa era, where these two styles intermingle.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\"Hosen-ro\" at the height of its glory-a place where customers kept coming even as the night wore on. To capture that bustling atmosphere, we've installed a large number of LEDs specifically in the Kanai area this time.
