The material is molded plastic made from styrene resin, which is commonly used in plastic models and similar products.
Made from a proprietary styrene resin, it is resistant to breakage even when thin and can be bonded using plastic model adhesives (styrene-based solvents).
It can also be cut with scissors, so it's easy to work with.
The surface design is intended for N scale (1/150), but because it incorporates various stylized elements, it can be used not only with 1/144 scale models-which are roughly the same scale-but also with a wide range of scales, including 1/72 and HO scale.
