What is BBD (Black Box Diorama)?
BBD is Kawada's new series, which is a development of his "JOUKEIBAKO" series of extremely small diorama works.
The work is placed inside a black box, and the viewer looks through the opening of the box. By blocking out the light and limiting the direction from which the work can be viewed, the work appears to float in the dark space, allowing the viewer to become even more immersed in the world of the artwork.

Running through" (video produced by Sakatsu Gallery)
This is an original representation from Kawada's point of view of a race scene from the Targa Florio, a public road car race held on the Italian island of Sicily.
was inspired by a photo of an old Ferrari. The 250 in the car's name refers to the displacement per cylinder.
The Swedish colors were very gorgeous in the image, but the streets were dull.
To make the street corners more colorful to match the colors of the cars, we added various colors and changed the overall color scheme to brighter tones.
The nightscape is also lit with colorful lights, creating a glamorous and warm atmosphere.
The white smoke curling up from the tires in the scene where the car runs through a corner at high speed emphasizes the sense of speed.
I fantasize about the story of someone who once drove this "prancing horse" as a racer and ran through life buying his partner back again after a successful business career.... (It would have to be a huge success as they are currently going for billions of dollars at auction!)
